Question: Dryer doesn't acknowledge pressing start button

After replacing heating element months ago ; the dryer ran great. Recently I had an issue with it not making any noise when the start button was pushed. After prompting the codes, I got 88 and when I opened the door it was 0E. So I replaced the door switch. No I get the same thing as a response. I requested the codes again and got 88 and 0E. In addition, when I closed the door and 88 appeared again; I pressed the start button and 98 appeared. Any help you could lend would surely be appreciated.

88 just means the dryer is in diagnostic mode. The codes you got when checking the door switch were good, meaning the switch was good and there was never anything wrong with it to start. When you closed the door and pressed the start button it should have done the following:

The motor and heater will turn on, and the display will show one of the following Console IDs: 9b, 9C, 9d, 9E, or 9F. So I doubt it showed 98 it was probably one of the id's you see listed which also means it was operating properly. If it did show 98 instead of one of the id's listed above you would need to replace the user interface console.
