F32 then F28

Question: F32 then F28

Whirlpool Duet is the model for my washer. It got the error code F32 at first out of the blue. Then after I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It ran for a sec then now displayed F28. Which error should I look into ? And is it something I can easily fix?? Thanks

The F28 error is a bad error code because it means the user interface board and the main control board can't communicate with one another. The reason it's such a problematic error is that many different components can cause failure. The troubleshooting steps are listed below, but you will need an ohm/volt meter and know how to use it to trace down the issue in most cases. You can start by doing the following:

1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.

2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). – Check links of the CCU board within the housing. – Make sure all grounding switches are engaged.

3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.

4. Plugin washer or reconnect power.

5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.

6. Check the MCU by looking for services of the drive motor.

7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. 8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors.

Below I have included a link to the tech sheet for those models. So you will have directions to use diagnostic mode.
