The F28 error code on Whirlpool washer model number WFW9550WW00 means:
The communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Since it does work when you slam the door sometimes I suspect the door lock assembly is causing your problem because the door switch may cause interference for the power supply of the MCU. So by slamming the door you are jarring the contacts inside the switch to make a better connection therefore it starts working. Replace your door lock assembly and that should fix it. The door lock assembly for your model is linked below. The site has new and used versions of the lock assembly so make sure you select the correct one from the condition drop-down box.
