Hello, i do not have my full model number with me but it is a whirlpool duet steam front loader washer. I troubleshooted and did received the F5E4 error code. But opening and closing the door did not help. I do notice that the drum light stays on when i shut the door does not turn off till i power off the machine. Any other suggestions i can try ?

The only other thing you can do it to try and reset the electronics by unplugging the machine for one full minute. After restoring power if the problem persists you will need to replace the door lock assembly on the machine to fix it. The door lock you need for those models is linked below:
