The F6 E2 error code on Whirlpool Dryers is a Communication From the Central Control Unit To the User Interface So yes it could be both boards but not likely. If you want to figure out which board is the issue and you have an ohm meter and know how to use it the tech sheet provided below has all the information to troubleshoot that error. First to Test #1 CCU Power Check  on page 11. If that checks out replace the user interface first and then replace the CCU if that does not fix it.
