Does a bad thermistor cause the dryer not to heat?

Asked by: Randy on September 25, 2018

My dryer keeps giving the f22 code but before that my dryer would not heat, can this be a bad heating element or this was it a bad thermistor causing the problem the entire time.

Hi Randy,

The thermistor can definitely cause the dryer to not heat, but if the dryer wasn't heating before the F22 code appeared, you might be dealing with multiple issues. There are several components in the dryer's heating circuit that could be the culprit, including the heating element, high limit thermostat, thermistor, control board, and the centrifugal switch on the motor. To pinpoint the exact cause, you'll need to test these parts with an ohm/volt meter.
