My dishwasher runs through the cycle, but the dishes come out dirty or with residue on them. What could be the problem?
If your dishwasher is not cleaning dishes properly, the issue could be due to a few common factors. First, check the spray arms to ensure they are not clogged with food particles or debris. If the spray arms are blocked, water will not reach all the dishes, leading to poor cleaning performance.
Another potential cause is a malfunctioning detergent dispenser. If the dispenser does not open correctly or at the right time, the detergent may not be released, leaving dishes dirty. Ensure that the dispenser is not obstructed and that it is functioning properly.
Additionally, low water temperature can affect cleaning efficiency. Make sure your water heater is set to at least 120°F (49°C) to ensure the dishwasher is using hot enough water to clean effectively.
Lastly, check the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. If it is clogged with food particles, it can restrict water flow and reduce cleaning performance. Regularly clean the filter to maintain optimal operation.
