My dryer runs, but it doesn’t produce any heat to dry the clothes. What could be causing this issue?
If your dryer is not producing heat, the issue could be due to several common factors. First, check the dryer settings. Ensure that you have selected a heat cycle and that the temperature setting is appropriate. Sometimes, a simple setting adjustment can resolve the issue.
Another potential cause is a blown thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is a safety device that shuts off the heating element if the dryer overheats. If the fuse is blown, the dryer will run but won’t produce heat. You can test the fuse with a multimeter and replace it if necessary.
Additionally, inspect the heating element for continuity. A broken or damaged heating element will prevent the dryer from heating. If the heating element is defective, it will need to be replaced.
Lastly, check the power supply. Electric dryers require 240 volts to operate properly. If one of the two power legs is not providing voltage, the dryer will run but won’t heat. You may need to check the circuit breaker or outlet for issues.
