Before starting any repairs, always unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet. This ensures your safety while working on the appliance.
The thermistor is typically located near the blower housing inside the dryer. To access it, you may need to remove the back panel or front panel of the dryer, depending on the model. Refer to your dryer’s manual for specific instructions.
Once you have access to the thermistor, inspect the wiring harness that connects the thermistor to the control board. Look for any loose, disconnected, or damaged wires. If you find any issues, repair or replace the wiring as necessary.
Use a multimeter to test the thermistor’s resistance. Set the multimeter to the ohms (Ω) setting and connect the probes to the thermistor terminals. Refer to the resistance chart below to find what the correct resistance.
If the thermistor is defective, replace it with a new, manufacturer-approved part. To replace it, disconnect the faulty thermistor from its wiring and secure the new thermistor in place. Reconnect the wiring harness to the new thermistor.
Once you have replaced the thermistor and ensured all connections are secure, reassemble the dryer by replacing the back or front panel. Make sure all screws and panels are securely fastened.
Plug the dryer back into the electrical outlet and run a test cycle. If the E1 error code does not reappear, the issue has been resolved. If the error persists, further inspection of the control board may be required.
