Fix the Whirlpool Duet Dryer F01 error with our guide. Diagnose and repair control board issues, reset controls, check the fuse, and replace the board. Save time and money.
The Whirlpool Duet Dryer F01 error code can often be resolved with a simple reset of the main control. To do this, unplug the dryer for one minute and then plug it back in. This will reset the control, and if the error persists afterward, the next step is to check the dryer’s thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is located on top of the blower wheel housing. Although it is uncommon for the fuse to cause the F01 error code, it's worth checking since it is a much less expensive part to replace compared to the main control board.
To check the thermal fuse, first, remove the bottom access panel from the front of the dryer. The fuse is mounted at the top of the blower wheel housing. Disconnect the two wires connected to the fuse and test it for continuity using a multimeter. The fuse should show continuity (closed); if it doesn't, the fuse is faulty and is likely the cause of the issue.
If the thermal fuse tests fine, the F01 error is likely due to a failure of the main control board. Replacing the main control board requires removing the top of the dryer. There are a few screws located at the very back of the dryer lid that hold it in place. Once these screws are removed, slide the top back and lift it off. Standing at the front of the dryer, you’ll see the control board mounted on the left side of the cabinet towards the top.
Remove the mounting bracket and unplug the wires connected to the board. It's a good idea to take a picture of the wiring before disconnecting them to ensure proper reconnection. After that, install the new control board.
The part number for the control board you may need to replace will vary depending on the model number of your dryer. If you need assistance in identifying the correct board, feel free to ask by submitting a question through our site: Submit A Question.
